Auntie Becky comes to visit

31 March 2008

My sister came to stay this weekend with her boyfriend Juddy. She absolutely adores Sophie and spent the whole weekend saying how cute she is and how much she wants one (watch out Juddy). She wasn’t so keen on the 9 months of pregnancy and 24 hours of labor that you have to go through to get one though… maybe she would be better off getting a dog!

She has a shrine to Sophie on her pin board at work with photos and a clipping of the article from when we were featured in our local rag – apparently Sophie is famous within her office. I am glad she is so besotted with Sophie and I feel Sophie has brought us closer together which is great.

Weekend Away

24 March 2008

We visited friends in London this weekend and as my friend has a two year old we seemed to spend most of the weekend in the park testing out the swings and funny wobbly chairs. Sophie and Harry seemed to tolerate each other but Harry didn’t take kindly to having to share his toys, even though he has hundreds. He’s not alone though, Sophie always wants the toy that someone else has got, and has become adept at stealing and hoarding the toys at the mum and baby club. Usually though, as she is reaching for another brightly colored toy, one of the other babies is stealing her stash –they all seem to have the same idea in mind. I am hoping one day she will learn to share.

We did manage to sneak in one trip to the pub to watch some rugby. It’s great now that they have banned smoking and pubs tend to be a bit more baby-friendly. Sophie entertained herself with a spoon whilst we watched the game. She makes me laugh with her spoons and can entertain herself for hours waving them about and putting them in her mouth. Bless her.

A day at the rugby

17 March 2008

This weekend we took Sophie to see the rugby at the Millennium Stadium. We had managed to get her a little rugby shirt and she looked great. It was her 3rd game and people were beginning to recognise her – one gentleman who always sits near us gave her £20 for her child trust fund. I never get over how generous people are when it comes to little ones. We couldn’t move for people cooing over her and asking how old she is. She revelled in the attention as usual and was a true superstar.

Amazingly, even with all the noise, she managed to have a snooze in the second half. I think she invented the saying ‘sleeping like a baby’. She doesn’t have a clue what the game is about, but always seems to enjoy the sense of occasion and distracting people from watching the game by waving and smiling. She went out like a light at bedtime and she wasn’t the only one – I was zonked. It had been a very exciting day.
